LEON FLEISHER ACADEMY

Music Across
Generations.

From International Stages
to Local Communities.

They discover the world through music.
Then bring it home.

LFA's international young artists have already brought music into the lives of older adults through community concerts and personal exchange. They share the cultures and experiences they discover around the world, while listening to the memories, stories, and perspectives of older generations.

A WIDER WORLD. A CLOSER COMMUNITY.

The world, through young eyes.
Shared with the community.

Through performances and educational exchange in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, China, and Southeast Asia, LFA's young musicians discover different cultures and ways of life. Our LFA Young Music Ambassadors bring these firsthand experiences into the community, sharing what they have learned while listening to the lives and stories of older generations.

International experience varies by student.

MUSIC ACROSS GENERATIONS IN ACTION

Music opens the door.
Conversation brings us closer.

These moments from LFA’s community outreach capture work already underway: international young artists performing for older adults, meeting listeners, and connecting through music and conversation. Each encounter is an opportunity to share discoveries from the wider world and learn from another generation.

THREE WAYS MUSIC BRINGS US TOGETHER

01 / COMPANIONSHIP

A lifetime of stories.
A younger listener.

Older adults share their experiences, wisdom, and memories. Through continuing conversation, sharing can grow into companionship.

02 / RESPONSIBILITY

Real connections.
A place to contribute.

Young people step away from everyday digital distractions to listen, care, and follow through—learning responsibility through relationships with real people.

03 / MUSIC & GROWTH

Music with purpose.
Learning through real work.

Meaningful, fairly compensated musical work encourages continued study while teaching students to communicate, collaborate, and participate in society.

As AI reshapes our world, we believe art, imagination, and human connection deserve an ever greater place in a child's education.

HELP GROW THE NEXT CHAPTER

Bring the world closer.
One conversation at a time.

We are inviting senior communities, young musicians, and supporters in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia to join the conversation.
