Leah Fleisher

Renown physical therapist

Leah Fleisher is a licensed Physical Therapist, having received her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia.  She is a certified Pilates instructor, on mat and apparatus, and specializes in Pilates-based rehabilitation techniques for orthopedic and neurological patients. She developed and teaches workshops for musicians on injury prevention, incorporating anatomy, physical therapy principles, posture and alignment, Pilates-based exercise instruction and prevention education.  Leah has presented her workshops at the Kennedy Center Summer Music Institute, the Carnegie Hall Weil Institute, the Suntory Institute in Japan, the Aspen Music Festival, the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the National Orchestral Institute, and other music festivals and programs. Leah has a private practice in Maryland where her patients include musicians of all ages, as well as a wide-ranging patient population.

Leah hails from a musical family and is herself a harpist. She has performed with the Miami City Ballet Orchestra, Artis Naples, and in small ensembles in this country and abroad. As a physical therapist, musician, and daughter of pianist Leon Fleisher- whose life and career were dramatically affected by injury - she is passionate about the role of injury prevention awareness and education for musicians, young and old.
